I am very pleased to have been selected by the United Nations Women, UK as a delegate to CSW67 – promoting the equality and empowerment of women across the globe.
The sessions were incredible from the very first briefing, in which we learned that pre covid the United Nations assessed that globally, we were 100 years away from achieving gender equity. Post covid, that estimate has risen to 300 years globally, and 120 years in the UK.
This was a theme throughout the sessions, with voices from around the world – whilst we are congratulating ourselves on our progress towards gender equality, the real-terms rights, access and opportunities that girls and women have around the world are being eroded faster than they are being won. And now that we know that, we need to all be part of doing something about it.
